Short Course Description
The course (2 points) will be held on line during the first semester and designed for graduate students
The aim of the course is to teach about different approaches in research to understand the role of inflammatory processes in the brain. The course will provide a general background on research approaches of the various cells involved in inflammation with an emphasis on inflammatory processes in diseases of the nervous system such as multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease and stroke.
The course will discuss different papers from literature, which present seemingly opposing results and the course participants will learn to compare the results, critique the conclusions and suggest research attempts to bridge the differences.
The course will be divided into two parts: the first will be given by the lecturer and the second will be given by the course participants and will include a discussion and comparison between articles.
Previous needed background: Immunology and introduction to inflammatory processes in the central nervous system is desirable
Final grade: 70% seminar and presentation and 30% exam.
