Short Course Description

The course aims to equip students with advanced, up-to-date knowledge in the epidemiology of infectious diseases, as well as the tools needed to conduct epidemiological studies in real-world settings. Using the emerging One Health approach, the curriculum emphasizes the connections between human medicine, animal health and the environment in shaping the spread and development of infectious diseases. Topics include changing disease patterns and emerging infections, animal reservoirs and environmental influences, host?pathogen interactions and transmission modes, and strategies for disease prevention, surveillance and vaccine development. The course also covers major disease areas such as enteric and respiratory infections, hospital-acquired infections, antibiotic resistance, zoonotic and foodborne diseases, and vaccine-preventable diseases.
