Short Course Description

The course provides a general introduction to the utilization of mathematical modeling for studying dynamical biological processes. The course starts with a general introduction to modeling with differential equations and their solutions and to bifurcation analysis. This is followed by examples for specific cases of interest - positive and negative feedbacks, regulatory motives and their dynamical behavior, noise in gene expression, cell-cell signaling and reaction-diffusion equations for modeling spatial pattern formation.
