Short Course Description
Course name: Research seminar ? ecology track
Teacher: Jonathan (Yoni) Belmaker
Course size: 2 weekly hours
Syllabus:
The course has four major goals:
(1) Recognize and understand the diversity of research topics in ecology
(2) Gain experience reading and understanding scientific papers
(3) Gain experience presenting and leading scientific group discussions
(4) Integration and social bonding of students in the ecology and environmental science track
On the first week, the teacher will present a short introduction to ecology, and explain how to read and present papers. In the other lessons, students will present seminal ecological papers and lead a group discussion.
Student requirements:
Students are expected to participate in all class. Home reading will be evaluated.
Grades (pass / fail) will be based on reading home material, active participation in discussions and the paper presentation.
