The course is a series of 13 2-hr lectures that provide an updated view of the fascinating world of Antibody Engineering.
The curriculum includes: An introduction to Antibody Engineering ? What are antibodies? why are the important biologically and commercially? why do we engineer antibodies? Antibodies structure and function: from genetic organization to 3D structure. The contribution of Bioinformatics to Antibody Engineering. Systems for antibody cloning and expression. Antibody humanization. Advanced antibody discovery approaches: transgenic animals, Display technologies, Next-generation sequencing and proteomics. Medical and Biotechnological applications of recombinant antibodies: naked and armed antibodies.
First Semester. 2 credit points.
The final grade is based on a multiple-choice exam (3 hours) containing 40 questions.
