תוכן הקורס ומטרתו
1. Introduction: The MIMO Gaussian channel, the ISI channel and their relation.
2. The AWGN channel
? Channel model: Continuous bandlimited AWGN channel, equivalent baseband channel, discrete-time channel.
? Capacity: AWGN capacity, spectral efficiency, gap to capacity.
3. Multiple-input multiple output (MIMO) channel
? Channel model: analogy to ISI channel and differences, single-user vs. multiuser.
? Notions of MIMO capacity under different assumptions about channel knowledge.
? Transmission schemes and receiver structures for MIMO.
4. Single-input single-output (SISO) dispersive channel
? Dispersion in the time domain.
? Channel model: continuous channel, equivalent discrete-time channel.
? Single-tone: optimal detection (MLSE), equalization, precoding, Price?s result, approaching capacity by equalization and AWGN coding.
? Multi-tone: cyclic prefix and the DFT, approaching capacity via AWGN coding over parallel channels.
5. Diversity techniques
? Diversity notion and its importance in wireless communications. Diversity- multiplexing tradeoff
? SIMO channel: maximal ratio combining, diversity gain, array gain.
? MISO channel: diversity gain of random coding, Alamouti scheme, space-time codes.
6. Extensions to Multi-User Scenarios
