Short Course Description

Syllabus: Fundamentals of flow in oil and natural gas reservoirs for reservoir flow modeling. The focus will be on deriving the mathematical equations and describing discretization schemes and finite difference numerical solution methods. Basic topics in multi-phase flow in porous media will be covered. Analytical solutions will be presented for simple cases and numerical models such as black oil, compositional and thermal for complex flow scenarios. In addition, the course will focus on applications to oil and natural gas production. Topics will be presented with regards to the big picture of petroleum engineering and examples from industry will be presented.
