Short Course Description
This Course will be taught in English.
The goal of this Course is to become familiar with the ways to simulate materials with the help of computer models.
To do this, we will rely on the atomistic hypothesis---that all materials are made of atoms---and we will use different mathematical approaches to the description of the interactions between those atoms: from assuming atoms are just hard spheres that collide with each other, to taking into account fully their quantum mechanical nature. The Course focuses on implementing some of those models into computer programs that we run to learn about materials.
Students will be evaluated through homework, to be graded every week during the Course. Homework involves programming, and it is demanding. Attendance to the lectures is not compulsory, but bonus points will be given for attending on Campus.
