Short Course Description
This advanced research seminar examines the shifting dynamics of global security and international relations within the digital domain. Students will explore the theoretical foundations of global security arrangements, hegemony, and regime theory, analyzing how the unique characteristics of cyberspace challenge traditional arms control architectures, deterrence models, and international law.
Through core theoretical literature and intensive case studies, the seminar evaluates the strategic cyber postures and data policies of major cyber powers, alongside the evolving geopolitical alignments of digital middle powers and asymmetric actors across key global theaters. As a seminar, this course emphasizes independent research, rigorous academic analysis, and peer dialogue, culminating in the development of an individual comprehensive research project or seminar paper.
