Short Course Description
The students will gain a deep understanding of various physiological procedures and develop experimental skills by collecting and analyzing data related to a variety of physiological parameters using advanced research equipment. Specifically, the students will measure physiological parameters of sensory responses in the antenna of the grasshopper and the ganglion of the crab. They will investigate the passive properties in an electrical model of a neuron; learn about the coding of firing rates of action potentials generated in the legs of the grasshopper; and record electrical activity in the human brain system, electroencephalography (EEG). The recorded data will be analyzing using MATLAB and other electrophysiology analysis software.
Target audience: Third and fourth-year undergraduate students
Full syllabus will be available to registered students only
