Short Course Description

The course is focused on the cell autonomous innate immunity, in respect to viral infections. The course describes mechanisms of innate immunity against viral infections and ?arms race? between host innate immunity and viral immune evasion. General topics include, but not restricted to, sensing of pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) by pathogen-recognition receptors (PPRs), intrinsic immunity, interferon signaling and interferon stimulated genes (ISGs), TRIM proteins, HIV, respiratory RNA viruses. The teacher and the students present selected topics and scientific papers. Majority, if not all, of the classes are delivered as Journal Club discussions. The classes are taught in English. Attendance is mandatory.
