Short Course Description
This course provides students with frameworks and practical tools for analyzing financial data and statements, and assessing the performance and valuation of firms. In addition to analyzing financial data of individual firms, we will use statistical and machine learning methods for analysis of large financial datasets. Students will learn to assemble financial data with programing languages like R, and use various machine learning and statistical methods to generate insights from the assembled data in major subdomains of financial analysis. At the end of the course, you will be able to critically review the information in financial disclosures, glean insights from large financial datasets, and use this information to gauge firms' performance and valuation.
